A friend of mine, Kyle-Anne Shiver, claimed earlier this month that this year’s Presidential election could be a landslide victory of McCain. That is true, but McCain can win by a large margin only if he wins Florida, one of the most populous states in the Union, which has 27 EC votes. To win in Florida, McCain must pledge to Floridians that:
1) American astronauts will land on the Moon and on Mars by 2030;
2) NASA’s Constellation Program will not be delayed;
3) Fuel taxes will not be suspended so as not to deprive the Freeway Trust Fund of cash;
4) Florida will have a modern transportation network;
5) The GOP, unlike the Dem Party, will not ignore Floridians nor will it deprive them of their right to vote;
6) The DOD will resume the SLAM ICBM program;
7) The DOD will order 50 additional ICBMs;
There will be replacements for the existing 450 ICBMs;
9) NASA will order 9 additional ABM satellites (or GPS satellites) (Reagan, Asimov, Nelson, Heinlein, Linnehan, Reisman, Glenn, Kehler and Kennedy), 8 additional Orion-class spaceships (Arthur Clarke (GB), Isaac Asimov, Richard Linnehan, Clarence Nelson, Garrett Reisman, Claude Kehler, John Kennedy and Rene Pellat (F)) and 5 additional military satellites (SPN –Satellite Program for the Net; AB-PSAT – American Bandwidth-Providing Satelllite; MB-PSAT – Military Bandwith-Providing Satellite; Ares; and NB-PSAT – Naval Bandwith-Providing Satellite) and 1 additional USN spy satellite (SPOS – Satellite Program for Observers of the Surface) and 1 additional SATCOM satellite (WWS – Wideband World Satellite).
Florida’s economy rests on two pillars: the tourist industry (to which you’ve contributed by holidaying in Florida and which depends on a good transport network) and NASA (which annually pays $5bn into Florida’s economy). Obama said he would delay the Constellation program by 5 years, and Floridians will not have a DNC delegation as big as they should have.
To win by a landslide, McCain will also need to win other states:
A) Virginia. McCain will win this state if he pledges 1) to increase the USN’s aircraft carrier fleet from 11 to 14 and 2) that the additional 3 ACs will be homeported at Naval Station Norfolk (VA).
B) Michigan. McCain will win this state if he chooses Romney (who was born in MI) as his VP candidate.
C) Conservative bastions like your home state – Georgia.
D) Missouri. McCain will win this state, according to RCP.
E) His home state – Arizona. McCain will win this state because he lives there.
If he wins FL, VA, MI, MO, GA, AZ and TX, then he will already have 167 EC votes of the 270 required. RCP claimed that he has been so far assured of only 163 EC votes (Obama – of 255) and that MO, VA and FL are swing states while MI is owned by the Dems.
